Been a while…

The Sunday afer the US game I scored tickets to see DC United play the NJ MetroStars (thanks Zander), so myself and the Captain went along to watch. It was a good game – 3-2 to DC, so everyone went home happy

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve also risen to the top of the American Football Fantasy league that we are playing here in work, amazing considering I knew one, maybe two American Football players when I started, I should have played the lotto the day I picked my team…. It certainly makes games more interesting to watch, because I actually have someone to root for.

Speaking of which, I was rooting for the RedSox when they played the Yankees, and was pretty much giving up – I mean like an underdog, but no team had ever come back from 3-0 down. Still, it was a slow night, so I watched the 4th game, and then the 5th, and then the 6th – it was insane. When they won the 7th game to go to the world series, I figured they’d be exhausted from the Yankee comeback and that Schilling would probably be too hurt to play. Not so – they just kept going – it was like they forgot how to lose.

I don’t normally like baseball as a spectacle, but I watched all 11 games fo the 2 series and was fascinated……

As for visitors, my brother Paul dropped in for a surprise visit. Suprise for him too, since he found out he was going on the Friday and was in New York by Saturday. Besides a quick IM on Friday I heard nothing from him – then bingo!- Sunday morning I get a call from Maria (his new girlfriend that I had never met berfore saying they were 2 hours away in Delaware!

Maria’s friend Emer also came along and they spent a fortune out in Leesburg. It was a bit of craic and i think they liked my place better than their hotel in New York – they’re welcome back any time…

Think that some is up for now, there’s a bit more news but that deserves its own post…….
