It’s a little weird to be working back at the old office 3 years later, though I suppose with all the people that have left and the layout changes it is not really the “old office” but there are still plenty of familiar faces about. I’d visited before, but not actually had to seriously work like the last couple of days. In addition to using up their meeting rooms, we crashed their summer office party at the races in Leopardstown on Wednesday which was good fun, but (of course) I won nothing.
Today is a lazy day so far, needs to be after the last couple of nights Dennis and I have been getting after it a bit this weekend since I got to London Friday evening. Since his room mate is out of town I have been staying with him in his place in Kensington, which apparently used to be Anna Friel’s place Looks like I’ll be heading to Brick Lane to have some food with Jan and Ev so that I can buy them some congratulatory drinks, then the plan is to have a quiet one so that I’m not a zombie for work tomorrow.
A quick note, because I actually have managed to upload some pictures. After grabbing some shut eye after 28 hours of continuous consciousness (sleeping in economy is not an option), I finally feel somewhat human.
Some highlights include the ability to see the Eiffel Tower from my hotel room and the fact that the room/suite is the size of a decent apartment. The pictures are up here, but here’s the tower at night as a sampler, hopefully I can continue to upload as the trip goes on….
We hit the Champs-Élysées today and went to the top of the Arc de Triomph before grabbing some yummy food and some beers down that way – I took a few more shots and added them to the existing set, I think the one below is my favourite. As for the mystery – anyone know why there were hundreds of people dressed all in white eating dinner and generally having a good time all around the Arc?
Just as things start to calm down and I think I might get back to having some free time along comes another business trip – with no visa stuff tacked on this time though. I’ll be hitting Paris, London and then Dublin before heading back stateside, and after a weekend in North Carolina that is a lot of miles in a couple of weeks.
Still, will be good to get home again for free and since half of my college class and several old cow-orkers are living in London these days, that should be a nice stop too.
A friend of ours that we recently met has a thing for British/Irish music, well all music really, but he doesn’t get a lot of chances to talk about the British and Irish stuff with other Americans. So he was pretty happy when he found a couple of people that actually knew what he was talking about (most of the time at least). One of the bands he asked about was The Kooks – I hadn’t heard of them but Jen had and loved their stuff, so I picked up their debut album.
Just show them this comic, that bad ass Santa will scare them into obedience in no time For the those unfamiliar with VG Cats, the references can be a bit obscure so for a little more explanation, try Wikipedia.

My blogging performance and my picture uploading has been shockingly poor recently, it’s just one of those times – lots of travel, lots of work, people visiting etc. Ironically enough it is posts about this kind of time that I most enjoy looking back on – I tend to forget what was going on at a particularly busy time and the blog entries and pictures help me remember it all. In fact, looking back it’s amazing how often I get things wrong chronologically in my own memory.
I play some computer games, I read Penny Arcade religiously and I generally follow the gaming news but I have to admit that sometimes I don’t get VG Cats. This offering did not cause any comprehension problems or furrowed brows Share this: <div class="sd-content"> <ul> <li class="share-facebook"> <a rel="nofollow" data-shared="sharing-facebook-190" class="share-facebook sd-button share-icon no-text" href="https://comerford.cc/2007/04/25/vg-cats/?share=facebook" target="_blank" title="Click to share on Facebook"><span></span><span class="sharing-screen-reader-text">Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)</span></a> </li> <li class="share-twitter"> <a rel="nofollow" data-shared="sharing-twitter-190" class="share-twitter sd-button share-icon no-text" href="https://comerford.
