I added Atom and RSS feeds to the site. I also added Adsense, mainly to see how hard it would be – I don’t expect to actually make any money In the end it was easier than I expected – even settin up the account was pretty easy, I can see why this is Google’s secrest sauce.
On other geeky fronts my Seti@Home efforts are going well. Still #1 in the old country and I have some more hosts coming soon.
I mentioned last time that I would talk about our recent travels. We were orginally going to head to New Orleans but of course a little hurricane known as Katrina got in the way of those plans. So, with refund in hand we booked two tickets to Las Vegas and booked some rooms in the Luxor. Have to say that Las Vegas is pretty cool – giant margaritas, roller coasters, gambling, showgirls, brunch at the Bellagio and (of course) gambling…….
Finally have some time to post. Anyone looking back over this might notice that my posting output drops off around the time a certain person arrived in the US, though I’m sure she will tell you that I don’t do anything anyway and should have plenty of time left to play around on the internet I reverted the main page to the blog because it’s the only incentive I’ll get to change it, plus the old page was pretty boring.
Well, since I’m lazy I had some comments that I just got now – one is from February for God’s sake Anyways, if anyone was waiting for me to get back to them then I can only apologize – things are just waaay to busy for blogging at the moment………..

Well, I haven’t had time for much updating recently between the job and the newly moved in girlfriend Such is life and I’m happy enough with that – always better to be doing than writing about doing….
On the tech side I’m probably going to sell off some of the extra equipment I have lying around – after all who needs multiple dual processor machines doing nothing but running SETI?
After almost 3 weeks back in the OC (Old Country, not crappy Berverly Hills 90210 remake), the return to the US is more of a jolt than I thought. I can drive again – I have my own place again – I can get Starbucks again 😉
I missed the old place it has to be said, and the changes were a bit worrying considering it has only been 9 months.
Well, I’m settled into my new place (kind of) – all the books, CD’s, computers etc. are still waiting to be put away, I need to wait for the boss to arrive in January for a decision on such things as placement of shelves and desk purchases….
Not much time to settle in though, since I’m off to the old country tomorrow for Christmas and I’ll be there until January 9th.
Got the new apartment sorted – in Arlington this time, right on a Metro stop – nice Been a while since I posted, mainly because the laptop is till out of comission. I’ll be moving on Wednesday – was going to move on the weekend but didn’t realise the company Christmas party was on the Saturday – not conducive to getting people to help. Speaking of Christmas – I believe the picture below sums up the Christmas rehearsal we went to last weekend nicely.
Been a while…
The Sunday afer the US game I scored tickets to see DC United play the NJ MetroStars (thanks Zander), so myself and the Captain went along to watch. It was a good game – 3-2 to DC, so everyone went home happy Over the last couple of weeks I’ve also risen to the top of the American Football Fantasy league that we are playing here in work, amazing considering I knew one, maybe two American Football players when I started, I should have played the lotto the day I picked my team….
Jen has an offer in from a company to come to the US – good money, not too far away in Bethesda – she got the offer letter yesterday and they want her over here ASAP – YAY!
So, she might well be here in January – it rocks!
Now I need to go hunting for an apartment on the metro line……
